Nomor Research has participated in 28th edition of European Conference on Networks and Communications (EUCNC) taking place in Valencia, Spain from 17th-21st of June.
The participation has been done in the scope of 5G-Xcast project, a 5GPPP Phase-II project, with a PoC demonstration “Reliable Multicast Delivery in 5G Networks”.
This live demonstration was based on Nomor Research’s system-level simulator with 5G capabilities and ATSC 3.0 service layer software for live traffic. It showed the gains achieved by reliable multicast delivery in 5G networks. This included the gains in and trade-offs among resource consumption, spectrum efficiency, service coverage, and QoE (Quality of Experience) when multicast is introduced as a network optimization – against unicast delivery mode – for delivering popular content. The demonstration also highlighted the effects of using application layer methods, such as DASH streaming and Multilink delivery on the efficiency and reliability of multicast delivery.
