Press-Release, September 16 – GOSATCOM 2019 – Nomor Research CEO Prof. Dr. Ingo Viering gives invited key note speech “3GPP Standardization and 5G for Satellites”.
From 10th to 12th of September the German Military University Munich has hosted the GOSATCOM 2019 under the patronage of Mr. Florian Hahn (German Parliament). The mission statement for the important and interesting national event with speakers and participants from the German industry, politics and other players, was the question, how standardization could be an advantage for the satellite industry.
Standardization – curse or blessing?
For the event, Nomor Research CEO Ingo Viering was invited as a key note speaker for the topic “3GPP Standardization and 5G for Satellites”. During his session Ingo analyzed the question, whether a higher degree of standardization would be fruitful or harmful for the satellite industry.
Ingo’s presentation gave a solid overview on standardization using 3GPP as an example, an impression of the history and the general positive outlook for the market.
The quintessence and final statement of Ingo’s presentation answers the conference motto, in a very impressive way: “Standardization can lead to mass markets and thereby offers great opportunities to end users and industry; a larger number of players within the satellite industry may get only a smaller piece, but of a huge cake”, says Professor Viering.
