Toulouse, March 12, 2018 – Nomor Research, a leading company providing 4G and 5G related consultancy services, today signed consortium agreement and announces its involvement in the ALIX project, sponsored by the ESA ARTES program.
The ALIX project will develop contributions and advocate positions favorably to the satellite communications sector, and specifically to ESA ARTES participating-state industry, within the 3GPP process. Work on Release 16 will begin in March 2018 and will address all requirements and use cases, including a New Radio (NR) interface -waveform suitable for satellite usage and Layer 2/3 protocol compatibility with satellite. The consortium is composed of the following organizations Thales Alenia Space, TNO, Fraunhofer IIS and Nomor Research GmbH.
Nomor Research is actively involved in 3GPP contributions in the area of NR Layer 2 and NR Radio Resource Configuration (Layer 3) protocol supporting satellites.
